Building players. Building character. Building community.
About the program
Alaska Quakes Baseball is a development baseball club in Anchorage Alaska. Our focus is teaching fundamentals, mental toughness, strong character, and staying classy. The Alaska Quakes were formed many years ago and was resurrected in 2014-2016 by Len Story. This was a great coach who had great success and a great team full of kids who loved playing together. I am excited to carry that legacy on and bring back that developmental approach to the game. Of course we want to compete but winning and losing isn't our focus. We want smart baseball players who love playing the game and have great sportsmanship. We want mentally tough kids who aren't afraid of failure or making mistakes. One day they will be after that job promotion, pursuing a family, starting a business, etc. We want them ready and able to pursue whatever they want in life and have the ability to be successful. During the summer our team will primarily be focused on practicing. As we move into fall we will play more games and play in some tournaments. Down the road as the kids get older and more serious so will the competition. The goal is to eventually play in tournaments out of state. Right now we are focused on having fun and learning the game so we can love the game!

Development first
We are big on fundamentals, after all baseball is a big game of playing catch.
Character on and off the field
We want to teach players to have good attitudes on and off the field.
A real community
Families and coaches who show up for each other all season long.
The staff
Coaches
Our coaching staff is highly motivated to teach your players the game of baseball!
Coach Billy
Head Coach
I played baseball for many years and played on the Quakes in 2003-2004. I played into high school. I was a pitcher, catcher, and 3rd base. I loved baseball from a young age, and as a coach I am excited to teach kids the game of baseball and watch them grow in the sport. With 3 kids of my own learning the game, I am ready! I believe that mental toughness is absolutely essential to perform at a high level. Our coaching staff is motivated and dedicated to developing kids into great baseball players and helping form them into great men one day. We care about character on and off the field.
Coach Nathan
Assistant Coach
I am big on working hard, being a great teammate and learning through mistakes. I may not have the most experience in baseball but I can coach a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and grow.
Coach Chuck
Outfield Coach
My coaching philosophy is rooted in 40 years of experience playing baseball through high school and into college, then coaching at all levels in between. I believe developing good players starts with building intelligent, confident athletes who understand the game, anticipate situations, and make sound decisions on the field. While individual skill development is important, I emphasize awareness, communication, accountability, intelligence, and a team-first mindset. My goal is to help kids become not only better baseball players, but also dependable and respected teammates who understand that their success isn't completely tied to raw physical talent.
Coach Daniel
Pitching Coach
I began playing baseball at the age of five with Wasilla Little League and continued playing throughout high school, giving me a lifelong love and deep understanding of the game. While I bring extensive knowledge of the fundamentals, strategy, and mental side of baseball, what I value most about coaching is the opportunity to help young athletes grow both on and off the field. I believe baseball teaches important lessons about discipline, accountability, resilience, teamwork, handling adversity, and learning from failure. My goal as a coach is to create a positive, competitive, and encouraging environment where every player feels supported, challenged, and confident in their abilities. I’m committed to helping each athlete develop their skills while also building the confidence, character, and life lessons that will stay with them long after their playing days are over.
Coach Zach
Pitching Coach
I grew up in Anchorage, pitching for East High during the run of four consecutive American Legion State Championships. I played into college and was fortunate to spend two summers pitching for the Glacier Pilots in ‘07 and ‘08, and continued playing recreational baseball into my mid 30’s. I was lucky to have great coaching throughout my career, and I hope to draw elements from those coaches while passing it on to our future players. My philosophy is rooted in developing athletes with strong fundamentals and a knowledge of the game, creating a strong base as they grow. With the expertise of our coaching staff, we can instill a love of the game while also helping them build character, confidence, and mental toughness.
